Fantastic stay here for a few days. The location is brilliant for the train station. Literally just steps away from leaving the station you’re in the reception area of the hotel. Rooms were tidy and a nice bathroom. Location in general is perfect for walking around all the shops too. The bus station is only a few minutes walk away where you can easily catch a but to the likes of the Culloden Battlefield and Urquhart Castle. If you’ve had a busy day out, right next door to the hotel is a nice and easy restaurant to eat at and to get a drink.

Based on the previous reviews, we weren't sure about what to expect. Lovely old style hotel. Has a character. It was like time travelling. Breakfast was very nice and staff was very friendly (especially Mr Ismail! Thank you:) ) some reviews said the rooms were noisy (street noise and seagulls) but ours was fine! Thick curtains helped. Very good value for money

Hotel is great located, right next to main train station. Once you get inside you will be amazed by vintage style of the indoors. Hall and stairs to get on the top floors are full of art - some of the paintings are even listed to sell, which personally I found really cool! Rooms are clean and breakfast is decent.

I spent three nights at this hotel with a group of 80+ and would gladly return at anytime. The staff is outstanding and willing to accommodate any questions or conceens. Multiple restaurants are within an easy walking distance, in addition to the restaurant and bar attached to the hotel. If you are looking for a lovely diversion in Inverness, this would be an excellent starting point.

I LOVE this place. I wish I could stay longer than one night. Built around 1850 (I think). It’s a beautiful place. My bed is comfortable and my room is nice and cozy. I don’t say charming often but this place is charming. Helpful reception. I was able to lock up my luggage until my room was ready. It has a lift. Private bath. Heated towel racks are appreciated after coming in from a chilly day. Nice tea/coffee service. I forgot to add how close it is to the bus and train stations! Walk outside the train station and it is directly to your left. To get to the bus station, walk out to the street, right for a couple of blocks then another right and you are there. You can also cut through the train station to get to the buses but it’s a little confusing if you’ve never been here before.

The hotel was clean and if taking the train into Inverness couldn’t be in a more convenient a location. The lobby area is a lovely spot to relax with a drink. Our room was very clean (even by my wife’s much higher standards) and the bed was comfortable. The TV channel selection was a bit weak, but we weren’t there to watch TV so didn’t matter to us. The staff were all friendly and the free continental breakfast was a nice perk (bread, pastry’s, coffee, cereal, cheese, and oatmeal). The hotel has certainly seen better days and could use a renovation for sure, but it is still a grand old place with loads of character. If you are taking the train to Inverness, want a clean/comfortable place to stay, and can get a good deal on for your room, the Royal Highland is a solid option.
